Task fields reference

The main fields on a Gantt Task record, grouped by purpose. This is a partial reference covering the fields most commonly edited or queried — the full record has roughly 50 fields, most of which are internal bookkeeping.

Hierarchy

FieldPurpose
GanttThe parent Gantt this task belongs to.
Parent TaskIf set, the task nests under another task. Parent tasks roll up dates and progress from their children.
Is ParentComputed checkbox. Indicates the task has children.
Hierarchy NameThe full dotted path of the task (e.g. Site Works.Earthworks.Bulk Excavation). Useful for reporting.
ExpandedWhether the task's children are shown expanded by default in the Gantt view.

Scheduling

FieldPurpose
Start DateMandatory. The task's planned start.
End DateThe task's planned end. Either End Date or Duration drives the other.
Duration (days)Length of the task in working days.
Actual Start DateThe task's recorded actual start.
Actual End DateThe task's recorded actual end.
Deadline DateA reference deadline used for variance reporting (not a hard constraint).

Baseline

FieldPurpose
Baseline Start DateThe original plan start, captured at baseline-set time.
Baseline End DateThe original plan end.
Baseline DurationThe original planned duration.
Baseline Percent DoneThe original planned progress at this point in time.

Progress and work

FieldPurpose
Percent DoneManual progress percentage.
Percent Done (Actual)Computed as Actual Work ÷ Target Work.
Override ProgressForces the manual Percent Done value rather than the computed actual.
Estimated HoursEstimated total hours of work.
Target WorkHours required to complete (used for actual-percent-done calculation).
Actual HoursHours actually worked.
Actual WorkTotal effort applied.
AmountCost — Rate × Duration, sourced from Time Tracking.

Constraints and dependencies

FieldPurpose
Constraint TypeOne of ASAP (default), ALAP, MSO (Must Start On), MFO (Must Finish On), SNET (Start No Earlier Than), SNLT (Start No Later Than), FNET (Finish No Earlier Than), FNLT (Finish No Later Than).
Constraint DatePaired with the constraint type for hard or bounded dates.
Slack (days)Free slack. Tasks with zero slack are on the critical path.
From TaskPredecessor task(s).
To TaskSuccessor task(s).

Cost and status

FieldPurpose
CostCalculated cost of the task.
Cost VarianceDifference between baseline cost and actual.
StatusTask status from the Timeline status list.
ColourHex colour for the Gantt bar — for visual grouping or highlighting.
Task CodeFree-text identifier (often an outline number).
NotesLong-form notes on the task.

Resource assignment

FieldPurpose
ResourcesThe resources allocated to this task (Employees, Vendors, Equipment, Roles or Crews).
Estimate TasksWhen Project Financials is installed, the Estimate items this task rolls cost up to.

Author input needed

The full Gantt Task record has more fields than are surfaced here — integration IDs, hidden phantom IDs, sandbox migration fields, Field Service Management fields and a number of UI-display fields. Most users never touch them. If a deeper reference is needed for advanced reporting, raise the request with the implementation team and this page will be expanded in Phase 5.
